How to Clean

Cleaning the paper shredding equipment is very easy. Get some smooth cloth or towel to clean the dust and inks smears. You may also dip the cloth into warm water with mild detergent especially if you are cleaning ink smears. Do not pour the water and detergent solution to the machine in order not to damage the equipment. On cases like paper jam, gently pull the paper from the machine. If small particles of materials are causing the machine to jam, get some tweezers or pointed materials. Through tweezers, gently remove clogged tiny particles from the teeth of the machine.
How to Maintain
Maintenance for shredding machine is also effortless. Cleaning the blades regularly is not necessary especially if you follow the guidelines of the number of sheets to be shred. Sharpening the blade shall also be done. Using aluminum foils that you can find in your kitchen can sharpen the blades. Therefore, sometimes, cut aluminum foils into short bond paper size and feed it into the equipment. If this does not work, then bring your blades to professionals only. Purchase at least another pair of blades so that you can continue shredding while the other blades are with the pros for sharpening.
Putting oil into the blades of the shredder will also help you have a smooth shredding activity. Just make sure that you use the right lubricant for your shredding machine. Do this at least once a week so that it is not going to be too messy. Be careful in putting lubricant to your machine and avoid spilling so that you will not have an extra task.
The lubricant shall be directly applied into the shredder. Kindly check the operating manual of your machine where you will apply the manual because shredders have different way of applying oil. Some machines will require you to apply the oil directly to the blades or the teeth of the shredder. Make sure self-oiling system, so; you only have to activate the oiling function. If you have this type of machine, you will need to replace the bottle of lubricant. You will know if the bottle of lubricant needs replacement when the empty lubricant indicator lights.
We cannot really avoid spilling oil or lubricants. Therefore, it is very important that you clean immediately the lubricant spill through using used clean paper, towel, or any clean cloth so that you will not have a messy shredding activity.
